# Generating Your First AI Resume

Skillmelo's AI Resume Builder creates professional, ATS-optimized resumes tailored to your target role. This guide walks you through generating your first resume.

### Before You Start

For the best results, make sure you have:

* ✅ At least one career path created
* ✅ Skills added to your profile
* ✅ Basic information about your experience

### Step-by-Step Guide (AI Generation)

> **Note:** You can also create resumes manually without using AI credits. See the Manual Resume Creation section below.

#### Step 1: Navigate to Resume Builder

1. Click **Resume** in the sidebar
2. You'll see any existing resumes and the option to create a new one

#### Step 2: Click "Generate New Resume"

Click the **+ Generate Resume** or **Create Resume** button.

#### Step 3: Select Target Role

Choose which career path this resume is for:

* Select from your existing career paths
* Or enter a new job title

#### Step 4: Add Your Experience (if first time)

The AI needs some context:

* **Work History**: Previous roles and responsibilities
* **Education**: Degrees and certifications
* **Achievements**: Notable accomplishments

* **Length**: 1 page, 2 pages

Click **Generate** and wait 10-30 seconds while our AI:
